You can heal yourself removing bullets and treating knife wounds etc. The gameplay is solid ) You use camoflague to blend in with the environment and use of a tranq gun is useful to knock out opponents. This goes wrong and leads Snake to return to Tselinoyarsk and take out a defector to the USSR and re capture the scientist. Snake has been sent in to extract a soviet scientist and bring him back to the US. Set in 1964 in Tselinoyarsk USSR you are Naked Snake who is a member of the Fox Hound special forces unit. As the ps2 version is now harder to find and most people would rather play the HD version on ps3 or Xbox 360 I recommend the HD collection version of Snake Eater. The blend of stealth and combat is a well implicated mechanic. I'd say, maybe 12+, but if your kid is smart and understands the concepts and such, maybe 10+. There is however one scene in the game, in which Snake is tortured and loses his eye due to a stray bullet, but that's the most violent part of the game. There's some mild swearing, like crap, and damn, but also some 'heavier' stuff, depending on how you look at it. Questions about patriotism and the ethics of war are raised. The game is very informative on war, but it's still a very anti-war game. The gameplay is incredibly tame if you turn off the blood, besides the fact that you can injure enemies, so if you shoot one of the Russians in the right arm, he won't be able to hold his gun as well, or if you shoot them in the leg they start to limp. Now, on the subject of 'Can I let my kid play this?' I'd say, absoloutely! If gore or violence is your concern, I'd say it's fine for any kid who's seen any kind of action flick. The game always keeps you guessing, and is just an absoloute marvel. ![]() The game plays, feels, and sounds like a Bond movie, from the soundtrack to the general atmosphere of the vast jungle. The story never gets boring, apart from a few of the many cutscenes. Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime, as Naked Snake sneaks his way through Tselinoyarsk, a (fictional) jungle in the middle of Russia.
